PARK HYATT JAPAN
MOCK UP ROOM
Role - Lead Designer
Rooted in the spirit of an old Osaka merchant residence, this mock-up guest room for Park Hyatt Osaka reimagines luxury through the lens of warmth, heritage, and understated refinement. Conceived as the home of a distinguished local host, the space embodies a deeply residential character one where guests are welcomed not as visitors, but as family.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese craftsmanship and the timeless elegance of Osaka’s cultural legacy, the design balances quiet sophistication with contemporary comfort. Rich timber finishes, textured woven panels, and carefully framed architectural details create a sense of intimacy and calm, while soft lighting and layered materials evoke the feeling of a lived-in home rather than a conventional hotel room.
The spatial experience unfolds with a deliberate sense of discovery, from the welcoming entry vestibule to the serene sleeping area, where clean lines and restrained detailing allow materiality and craftsmanship to take center stage. Every element has been thoughtfully curated to celebrate authenticity, creating an environment that feels both rooted in history and effortlessly modern.
More than a place to stay, the room serves as an invitation into Osaka itself a reflection of the city's quiet confidence, generous hospitality, and enduring appreciation for craft. It is a sanctuary where cultural heritage, comfort, and meaningful connection come together, offering guests a genuine sense of belonging within a contemporary Park Hyatt experience.
