JUNEJA
Residence
Area - 5000 sq ft
Role - Project Lead
It is certainly difficult to tread the line between what a client wants and what they think they want. This difficultly takes an interesting form when your clients are a very young couple deciding on how their future home is going to be – ‘Juneja Residence’, apartment project of one Mr. Kevin Juneja & Mrs. Devina Juneja in the capital city of Kolkata, West Bengal. Being a fashion designer herself,
Mrs. Devina understands the essence of styling and intricate detailing in design. Thanks to her, never have instructions been clearer and since the very first day the mood board and direction for the space was quite strong. For their 4 Bedroom apartment they wanted earthy tones and clean, natural surfaces that encapsulated their youthful spirit.
The highlight of the project is the dining area, where a stunning solid wood dining table takes center stage, surrounded by an inviting ambiance of warm tones. The use of solid wood not only brings in a sense of natural warmth but also adds a rich, organic texture to the room, grounding the design in a timeless, earthy appeal.
The focal point of the space is the intricate tikri work on the wall. This traditional Rajasthani art form, created using hand-cut mirrors and painted surfaces, adds a layer of intricate craftsmanship and cultural richness. The tikri work catches and reflects light in unique ways, subtly shifting the atmosphere of the room depending on the time of day and the play of natural and artificial light. This artistic feature not only acts as a visual statement but also creates a harmonious blend of contemporary design with traditional Indian craftsmanship.
Altogether, these elements bring together a sophisticated yet warm environment, offering a perfect balance between modern minimalism and cultural richness. The dining space becomes not just a functional area but a place of gathering, reflection, and admiration for the finely detailed craftsmanship.
